Representative Irene Gifford of Lincoln is serving her first term in the Maine House representing District 28, which includes the towns of Maxfield, North Penobscot, Seboeis Plantation, Edinburg, Enfield, Howland, Lagrange, Lincoln, Mattamiscontis, and Mattamiscontis Township.  She currently serves the 131st Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources.

Rep. Gifford graduated from Matanawcook Academy, then went on to study cosmetology and own a small business. For over 46 years, Irene has cut hair and still does to this day.  She is a member of the area Free Masons. 

Irene was married to Jeffrey Allen Gifford for 60 years. Jeffrey preceded her as State Representative in the 130^th Legislature.  Together, Irene and Jeffrey raised 3 children, and have 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
