A 1976 Graduate of Rumford High School, Josanne Dolloff has worked in the accounting field where she has learned how too many regulations and mandates from Augusta affect the bottom line for every small and large business in Maine.
Public service isn’t new to Dolloff, who has served on the MSAD 43 School Board, Rumford Finance Committee, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She knows how to ask the right questions and to find common goals with her neighbors, experience she hopes to bring to the Legislature.
Josanne Dolloff has been married for 38 years, has two daughters and five grand-children living in the area, and is one of six siblings.
The Joint Standing Committee on Veterans and Legal Affairs oversees Alcoholic beverage laws; adult-use marijuana regulation; lottery; for profit and nonprofit gambling, including games of chance, beano and raffles; slot machines, gaming devices; harness racing and off-track betting; election laws; campaign practices; campaign financing and disclosures; the Maine Clean Election Act; voter registration; direct initiatives and people’s veto; legislative ethics; lobbyist registration and reporting; Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices; veterans’ programs; Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management Services (except the Maine Emergency Management Agency); Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations; Gambling Control Board; and Maine National Guard.
“I am really looking forward to serving on this committee, because I’ll hear directly from people who come from all over the state about how Maine can do a better job taking care of our Veterans, every branch and generation,” said Dolloff. “I grew up in a military family, and think that we should be doing whatever we can to make sure that Veterans and Military Families aren’t getting left behind. They are also important contributors to Maine’s future and a healthy economy.”
“Let’s ask ourselves, are we meeting the basic needs of our own Maine citizens? We are turning our backs on our own people. When I volunteered in the school system, you don’t know how many children don’t even own a tooth brush or tooth paste, or a brush for their own hair. That’s sad, but this is Maine, and that goes on, there are homes that still have dirt floors. And we’re not going to help these people– our people?”
Constituent Services offered to River Valley residents include congratulatory letters, Legislative Sentiments, flags flown over the Capitol, assistance with state departments, general comments or questions about legislative matters.
