Augusta – This afternoon, the Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology is holding a public hearing on LD 1649 “An Act To Modernize Maine’s Solar Power Policy and Encourage Economic Development.”
Nathan Wadsworth, the ranking House Republican on the Committee, released the following statement on LD 1649.
“While we understand that technological advances are changing the solar delivery market, we believe it is paramount that whatever policy decisions we make protect jobs, the ratepayers and net metering,” said Rep. Nathan Wadsworth (R) of Hiram. “When it comes to this issue, we should instruct the PUC to stay the course on net metering; protect existing solar customers, installers and the 400 jobs tied to the solar industry; and protect the ratepayers from the uncertainty of long-term contracts.”
