House Republican Leaders Statement On Government Oversight Committee Vote

Below is a joint statement from House Republican Leader Rep. Ken Fredette of Newport and Assistant House Republican Leader Rep. Ellie Espling of New Gloucester regarding the Government Oversight Committee’s vote on the OPEGA report dealing with Goodwill Hinckley’s hiring and immediate firing of House Speaker Mark Eves:

“The 7-5 vote of the Government Oversight Committee  reflects not only the fact that OPEGA has completed its work but also reflects the lack of consensus on the report. We believe that the Legislature’s focus should be on the drug crisis in our state and continuing to reform state government. It’s time to put this issue behind us and focus our time and attention on what we were elected to do.”
