Rep. Fredette’s bill fixes an inadvertent error in the budget that would have cost Maine veterans a $10,000 benefit
Augusta – A bill put forward by House Republican Leader Ken Fredette of Newport to preserve a tax credit for Maine veterans by fixing an inadvertent error in the recently passed biennial budget regarding was unanimously approved by the Legisltive Council this afternoon. The bill request, LR 2434 “An Act To Make Additional Technical Changes to Recently Enacted Tax Legislation Concerning Pension Income” will be considered during the upcoming session.
“I want to thank the members of the Legislative Council for their continuing support of our military retirees,” said Rep. Fredette. “Veterans in Maine are counting this benefit and today we’ve shown that we all agree that taking care of our veterans is a priority for all of us in the Maine Legislature.”
